Back to Shearwater

Heading back down Roscoe Inlet we saw a couple of Humpback whales along the shore stirring up the fish and feeding.

Humpback whale

We took a few videos. It is not easy to capture a humpback whale on video !

We stayed one night in a little anchorage on Cunningham Island just 11 miles from Shearwater. It was a nice little spot but very open. And a bit breezy so Sharon didn’t go out on the paddle board.

Sharon’s Be Real in the Anchorage
Lilly and Sharon have bonded !

Saturday morning we went to Shearwater and tied up to the dock around 11 am so Sharon could catch the 12:30 water taxi to Bella Bella for her 2:50 flight back to Vancouver.

Jim and I also took the 12:30 water taxi to pick up a few groceries at the store in Bella Bella. The day Sharon flew in the store was closed in Bella Bella do we were pretty excited to do some grocery shopping.

We got milk and bread ! And a great big package of prime rib beef ribs. And caught the 2:30 water taxi back to Shearwater.

About 5 minutes after leaving Bella Bella Sharon called and said she had been bumped from the flight ! The plane was overloaded and too heavy ! She was coming back ! Apparently some passengers had large boxes of fish ! So the fish bump a total of three people from the flight ! Luckily Sharon had a full day layover in Vancouver so she didn’t miss a connection. But the other two passengers were not so lucky – Or happy !

I’m back!
Not our boat !
The plane is back up!
A beautiful sunset in Shearwater. Taken at the dock.

We went out for a pizza dinner and an Eggs Benny Bunch and put her back on the 12:30 water taxi.

We ended up spending two nights at the dock and did 4 loads of laundry ! That alone is worth the extra night ! And Sharon made it out and back to Vancouver without and glitches.

  1. Hello, Pam,
I didn’t have problems replying to your blogging until last week, but I don’t know what the problem is. My last comment under your blogging only has “ I am” then the screen just froze. I am sure you intuitively knew that I was having a problem with commenting. So, I am emailing you and hope that this works.
I was going to say that Sharon didn’t mine coming back to have another day with you guys on the boat, rather than waiting for a day for her flight from Vancouver. Looks like Lily bonded with Sharon.
I wonder what would have happened to Lily if you couldn’t grab her in time by the scruff!. Can a cat swim like a dog? I thought all cats hate being wet, as there is a saying “ mad as a soaked cat” or was it “ mad as a wet hen”?
Did Jim swim with anchovies in Roscoe Inlet? What a treat to swim in the ocean! All the pictures you posted look so beautiful. I guess you are lucky with the weather this year.
It was very hot in Vancouver last week but the temperature came down since last Thursday to around 25’C during the afternoon, which is hot but tolerable.
My sages club( 7 out of 9) is going to take a day trip Victoria this Tuesday. We started this club in 2014 spring, and this is our first day trip outside Vancouver. Two of 7 are away on holiday. We will car pool and take a ferry to Victoria, to have lunch there and spend a day before coming back toVancouver in the evening. It will be nice as it’s going to be warm (27’C) and sunny.
When we meet next time, I will tell you more this day trip.
Continue with your wonderful adventure. Nothing special is happening in Vancouver, but you might have read about the incident involving Trump.
